Catches and Rounds which have already been sung at our monthly singing sessions or performed at a SDFS public event.
Banbury Ale
Banbury ale,
Where, where, where?
At the blacksmith's house,
I would I were there.
Child of light
Child of light,
Star so bright,
Hear to Angels singing,
On this dark night.
Gather Round the Fire
Gather round the fire,
Let the bright warming cheer your heart,
Hail the woodland Lord.
Hey Ho Winter Snow
Hey Ho Winter Snow,
Logs for the fire,
Home we go,
Hear the choir singing.
A Harvest Round
Cut the Wheat,
Stack it neat,
Take it to the miller,
So all can eat.
I Heard a Bird Sing
I heard a bird sing,
In the dark of December,
A magical thing,
And sweet to remember.
We are nearer to Spring,
Than we were in September,
I heard a bird sing,
In the dark of December.
Stir Up Sunday
Stir up we beseech ye,
The pudding's in the pot,
And when we get home,
We'll eat it all hot.
Summer Is Near
Rambling rolling Downs in Spring,,
Swifts will soar and harebells ring,
Soft blows the wind,
Bright shines the sun,
Summer's near and Winter’s done.
Wassail Your Apples
Wassail all your apple trees upon this winter's day,
They will bloom and fruit so well the bugs will fly away,
We'll have plenty!
We'll have plenty!
Apple pies, what sweet surprise, we'll eat them every day.
